Fiddles and Snow

I’ve been spending a lot of time the last few weeks learning some new tunes.  When we’re are out playing music, I don’t carry any music with me so that means they are all up in my music part of the brain.

I must smile at that thought because there are times when, no matter how hard you try to pry that beginning of a tune out of your mental library … it just won’t show up!!  That’s why I keep a list on my phone that has the first 3 notes of the tune.  It’s kind of like when something is just out of your reach, even though you’re standing on your tippy toes and have your entire body and arms outstretched just as far as you can, and you still can’t quite reach it.  You need a boost and that little boost, whether large or just tiny, is all you need to grab it!  That’s what those first three notes of a song are for me.  It works!

Right now, I’m watching three fiddlers daily and finding it fun to see the tunes we have in common and hearing tunes that grab my attention and I want to learn.  The list is long … and I have to reign myself in with one tune at a time.  Wait … who am I kidding!!  I keep ten tunes to learn at a time and when I’ve got one learned I add the next one.  Are you able to only work on one tune at a time?  It seems like that has never worked for me!!!

Where oh where is spring?

I know, I know … embrace the glistening snow with its crystals that are infinitely different and unique.  Long for their freedom and grace as they float toward the ground or swirl in the breeze.  Embrace the beauty of the leafless trees as they hibernate until the warm sun of spring touches the tips of their branches.  Appreciate the distance that you can see through the leafless limbs … the view that is gone once the trees leaf out and are full and green.

Embrace the crunch of the ground as you walk through the yard.  The dried leaves on the ground … the crunch of the sleeping grass … gone is the green flowing lawn of summer.  Spring will come again and bring along with it all of the new life that blossoms in both plants and animals.

Embrace each day and welcome it in.
Be the best you that you can be.
Each day is a new beginning.  Grab it!!!

Thank you for stopping by the blog!!!
Until next time!
Ava

Getting Back In The Groove

We have snow!!!

We have 4 inches of snow right now.   It came down in great big flakes.  It was so pretty to watch as it fell to the ground.  School has been cancelled two days in a row so that means no music lessons either.  It's been a quiet two days around here.  It did give me more time to practice my instruments.

Guess what I did?  Oh my gosh!  I joined a writing group for women!!!  Yes!!  I am going to get back to my writing again and blogging.

It's going to be an active and busy year for me.  I have a children's book ready to go to the illustrator!!  Get out!  Right????  I had stopped on my novel.  But ... I'm thinking about getting it back out and having another look or just starting over with a new one.  I don't know ... maybe just alter it. Time will tell.

I'll be back to blogging again.  I have several.  One is for my moon photos and moon poetry.  I'm working on a coffee table book that includes my moon photos and poetry.  I had it all ready to go when a horrible thing happened, and it was lost.  Please be kind ... I learned from it and hopefully it will never happen again.  It was on a computer that got hit and everything was gone.  I was heartbroken.  This is the first I've spoken of it.  It still hurts, but I'm just going to have to move on and I have already begun again.  I will be going through all my camera cards to look at photos and choose the ones I'd like to use.  The poems, however, are gone other than any of my originals that I may have already put on the blog.  I haven't had the heart until now to even look.

I have about 30 original songs that I have written and put to music.  I will be acting upon that in 2020 and getting my songs out there.  I haven't decided whether to try to sell them or re-record them myself.  Things to ponder.

I have my collection of original Native American Flute music that I will be recording, hopefully this year.  I need to invest in a couple more Flutes before I get started with recording.

I will be active on the YouTube channel again.  There will be some adventures ... I am going to do some cooking videos ... Doug and I will be making some music videos featuring our fiddles, banjos and mandolins.  And are you ready for this???  I am even going to start a game channel for my time spent at Red Dead Redemption!!!!!  Yes!!!!!  You didn't know that about me, did you?????

I am using my Plexus products.  It's been three years for me now and what fantastic products!!!  When something changes your life for the good, you can't help but share with others the blessing you have been blessed with.  I am currently building my team and my business.  For anyone who is looking for weight loss ... getting rid of inflammation ... balancing blood sugars ... balancing their gut health ... looking for an easy two step skin care regimen in our Joyome Day and Night Serums ... looking for an effective Multi-Action Collagen Complex that you just mix with the drink of your choice (I like mine best in my coffee or hot tea) ... I've got you covered!!!!  Just comment or message me and I would be honored to talk to you about the products and groups that I have to offer.  Even if you're just tired or being sick and tired ... even if you just want to feel better ... let me know.

I am getting my groove back and I am so happy to be here!!!
I am so happy that you are here!!!

Flash Mob! Living Dead Windows! Hannibal, MO Part 1

We had a fun filled evening last night!

Our little town of Hannibal, MO seems to always
have something going on in our
Historic Downtown Main Street
and that is one of the things we love so much
about living here.

Last night was the Halloween Parade,
Living Dead Windows
and
Flash Mob!
They danced to Thriller!
Yes!

Here is the video that I shot.

That was the wrap up of the evening.

First was the Halloween Parade
and then
Living Dead Windows.
It was a great evening!

Doug, Chris and I loaded up and headed downtown when
Doug got off work.

It was a cold evening ...
temp was 35 degrees
and there was a breeze blowing
which made it seem a bit colder than
it really was.

We were having so much fun
(we were out there for two hours)
that we really didn't notice how cold we were
until we headed to the car
to head home.
Burr!!!

What are Living Dead Windows?

Well,
it's like this.
Living Windows are window displays that use living people.

So ...
Living Dead Windows ...
Well,
that would be ...
you guessed it!
Real people in window displays ...
Zombies ...
Creatures ...
More Zombies ...
You're beginning to get the idea!
You walk down one side of Main Street
and
walk back up the other side
in order to see
all of the window displays.
Everyone did a great job!!!

Zombies ...

A zombie singer ...

Don't forget the clowns ...

Witches ...

Zombies ...

Zombies ...

Zombies ...

Zombies ...

Look at those eyes!

That's all the photos
it would let me load so
look for Part 2!
Soon to come!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Flowers! Flowers! Flowers!

Tonight's post is all about flowers!

I always enjoy the flowers in the flower garden.

There have been a lot of bees out there lately buzzing around.

I have been seeing quite a few humming birds too.

These flowers are right by the swing and it is such a
pleasure to look at them while we are sitting there.

I always have marigolds because they make me think of my grandmother.
She always has marigolds around in the garden and around the house
to keep the bugs away.

Zinnias are my favorite flower to have in the garden.
They bloom continuously and are always so pretty.

These came up accidentally.
Cute little boogers.

And morning glory.
Yes, I grow morning glory on purpose.
Lol.
I think it's a nice addition to the flower garden.

Hope you enjoyed the trip through my garden.
It always makes me smile to look at them and water them.
I'm already making plans for next year's garden!

Thank you for stopping by!

'Til we meet again.

The Seasons Are Changing

These cool mornings sure do make it hard to crawl out of bed!
And they make those nice warm showers feel extra good.

We have a new shower head and it uses a lot less water then the old shower head did.  How do I know this?  Because it says so on the package?  Nope.  I know this because when I take a shower I put the stopper in the tub drain so I can soak my feet while I shower.  I used to end up with water to my ankles by the end of my shower ... now it's barely over the top of my feet. I'm not complaining.  The soak still feels good and it makes me feel good to know we're saving water.

Sometimes you meet people and they make an impact on your life.  If you haven't checked out Helene, One On The Run ... you should do so.  Doug and I met Helene and Janeen when Helene was making her run through Missouri.  Her motto, "Rethink Impossible" and reading her story inspired me so much.  Look her up on Facebook ... the page is "One On The Run".  You should also look her up on www.oneontherun.com and read her story.

Those of you who have known me for a while ... and if you're my family ... you know that Ava Jane is one of my nicknames.  And no ... Jane is not my middle name.  What?  Yep!

I caught out cat, Monster, looking out the winder yesterday.  There are leaves falling ... bugs flying ... kids playing.  I'm not sure what he was looking at for sure but I'm sure it was one of those things.  He sat there for a long time watching the leaves blowing in the wind.

Doug got the motorcycle out and went for a ride.  We always enjoy that.  I didn't get to go today because I was working but I'm glad that he got to go.

Hope you all have a great day!

Thank you for stopping by the blog!

Whoo hoo! I got a promotion!!!

Yes!

I know that it has been a while since I got on here.
I hope that you all have been well.

Doug and I are doing great
.

I have great news!
I got a promotion in my Plexus business!
I am now a Silver Ambassador for Plexus Worldwide!!!
I am very happy about this!
Whoo hoo!!!!

Our youngest son, Tom ...
just turned 31 a few days ago.
Where does time go?
My goodness.

Doug and I went to the
Big River Steampunk Festival
in Hannibal, MO
this weekend.

We had a great time and I got to meet some friends
who I have only known on Facebook ... in person!
That was great for me.  They are two people who inspire me very much.

Doug planted a moon flower plant for me earlier this summer.
It just bloomed it's first bloom this evening!
It is so pretty!

So pretty!
And they smell so good!

We are experiencing haze from several wildfires that are burning right now.
One is in Montana here in the US.
The other is in Canada.
For a while between 4:00 and 6:00pm the sky was yellow.
It was very strange to see.

Then a little bit after that the sun was pink.
Here is a picture that I took.

When the moon came up this evening it was red/orange.
Also due to the wildfire haze.
Here are a few pictures that I took.

Hope that you all have enjoyed your Labor Day weekend.
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog.
There will be more Steampunk pictures to come.
Bye Bye for now!
