One of the projects that my husband worked on last summer was making a kitchen island / bar with chairs to put in our kitchen. I saw on line on a DIY post somewhere that you can take an old dresser (chest of drawers) and turn it into a kitchen island with chairs and storage.
So I decided ... yes ... you caught the "I" ... right? (wink wink)
But Doug got excited about it too after he saw what I was talking about.
We decided to buy an old dresser and make one for ourselves.
Then we saw how expensive even an old dresser is.
Sigh
So we put it on hold. And we were sad.
But then we thought ... you know that spare bedroom we have ... with the empty dresser ... that no one is using ...
Yes sir ... we went right in there and carried it right out!
Then we decided it was too tall.
He decided to cut it at the top of the fourth drawer and that made it the perfect height. Now it has four drawers of storage.
Doug went and bought a top for it.
Then he had to cut it to the measurements we wanted. Then did a lot of sanding to get it all nice and smooth around the edges.
He also made some legs to put on it ... one on each side.
He painted the dresser. My kitchen is yellow so we went with yellow for the dresser as well.
Then he stained the top and the legs he was going to be putting on it.
This was fun to watch!
We found these two chairs at one of our favorite stores at Carpet Baggers Antiques and bought them from Ray ...
Doug decided it would look better with some blue accents.
I agree!
I think it turned out great!
Thank you sweetheart for doing this for me and envisioning what it was that I was wanting.
It turned out just beautiful!
(Like how he worked in a shot of the motorcycle?)
Then we brought it in and we have been using it ever since.
So happy with it!
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog!
Come back often!
And please remember to be kind to those around you.
There is not enough kindness in this world.
I am so glad you stopped by!
